Sunrise Penguin Walk

A taste of real nature on a truly magic wildlife adventure and the most natural way to observe rare Yellow-eyed Penguins on their daily journey to the sea. The tour requires a reasonable level of fitness as we descend sweeping sand dunes to a remote beach on the way to our private viewing hide. Penguins share this coastal habitat with different species, the most prominent being New Zealand Fur Seals and Sea Lions. Learn about penguins, their environment, and the management challenges for this unique place so close to a major city.

Duration approx. 3 hrs
Group size 2 to maximum 6 participants

The tour is suitable for adults only and a good level of fitness is required for this eco-adventure

Peninsula Excursion & Albatross Encounter

Start your peninsula excursion with a scenic drive followed by a walk through regenerating bush. We will see conservation in action and provide an opportunity to contribute to ongoing re-vegetation by planting native trees. After picnic lunch a the top of the hill we continue to explore remote Otago Peninsula with its deserted beaches and coastal inlets. Viewing of Northern Royal Albatross will add another highlight to your day. The cliffs and rocky outcrops of Taiaroa Head are home to the only mainland breeding colony of Royal Albatross and also provide ideal habitat for other native bird species. The itinerary allows for some flexibility and can be fine-tuned on the day.

Duration approx. 6 hrs
